Founded by Terrence C. Halfen, the garden center was built on a simple idea: grow healthy plants, offer honest advice, and treat every customer like a neighbor. Terrence’s lifelong love for horticulture led him to transform years of hands-on plant growing into a seasonal retail garden center that continues to thrive today.

Halfen Garden Center is best known for its extensive hosta collection, featuring over 500 varieties—one of the largest selections in the area. From classic favorites to rare and unique cultivars, our hostas are carefully grown to perform well in Midwest climates.
